Deskside & Network Support Technician – Beaumont, TX
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our client, a reputable global oil & gas company, based in Beaumont, TX.
12 months contract and renewable.
The Deskside & Network Support Technician will:
Provide Level 1 support consistent with network data and voice support models.
Perform comprehensive maintenance and support as prescribed, including PC, notebooks, printers and other PC peripherals.
Relocate & install PCs, printers & other peripherals including standard software within all locations.
Install & configure of end user software, e.g.: MS Office, MS Outlook, etc.
Observe company’s security & safety regulation in particular to virus protection.
Update hardware/software asset data using Asset Center database upon installation or relocation of any PC equipment.
Maintain a working knowledge of:
Network data (Cisco/Juniper routing, switching, WAN/LAN protocols)
Voice technologies (Legacy PBX, Cisco, MS Lync)
Network Services Internal Processes.
Maintain operations reliability:
Plan network changes
Resolve network and desktop problems
Participate in review meetings as required to support implementation activities
Provide recovery and restoration of the network in event of a disaster or major incident
Security and Controls
- Comply and contribute to completing Security and Controls process regarding Network data and voice technologies
Bachelor or Associate Degree with related working experience.
Data/Voice certification e.g. CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, Cisco Voice is an added advantage.
Experience in PC/printers and network support & maintenance.
General network (data and voice) knowledge.
General network knowledge (Cisco/Juniper).
LAN and WAN network equipment and environments, analysis, routing, and switching
OSI Model, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
Network management and protocol analysis
VSAT, Wide Area VLAN, MAN, MPLS/IPVPN technology, QoS features, Wireless LAN technology
Voice knowledge; IPT, VoIP technology, Cisco VoIP
Proficient in supporting Window client environment
Possess working knowledge in Outlook
Proficient in WINDOW-based application such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
Basic knowledge in supporting iOS devices
Good written and oral communication skills; ability to discuss technical issues with all levels of personnel globally
Strong, self-initiative and self-motivated
Flexibility in schedule for working with a global team
Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a diversified skill set
Strong work ethic, interpersonal and team-building orientations
Adaptability to time pressures & changing priorities
Good customer service skills.
